Red squirrels are typically found in large pine forests, and other types of woodland.
They are predated by polecats, pine martens, wildcats, some owls and goshawks.
The red squirrel population has declined steadily since the introduction of the grey squirrel by the Victorians, in both its range and size.
This painting was a finalist in the DSWF Wildlife Artist of the Year 2022.
